For some time it has been my observation that although 4 passages of Scripture are read in many churches each Sunday, only one of them, usually the Gospel, gets all the attention either in the sermon or in the mind of the listener. To me, this impoverishes the experience of having such a rich banquet of God’s Word before us, a banquet that someone has gone to a lot of trouble to provide.

In order to help address this issue, I have created a blog called Lection Connection which each week briefly explores the links between the passages set in the Revised Common Lectionary for the coming Sunday.

The blog is meant to be helpful to preachers (especially lay preachers), lesson readers (and thus their congregations) and to anyone who wants to prepare for Sunday worship by reading the Scriptures appointed ahead of time.
