Brief Description and Mandate

To advise, guide and make recommendations to the Council on human resource management functions including, but not limited to:

  • All remuneration structures and details regarding compensation and benefits for all diocesan clergy, retirees, survivors and diocesan and parish staff.
  • Relationship management and evaluation processes;
  • Design and delivery of information sessions on human resources management issues;
  • A review of all Diocesan Canons, regulations, policies and guidelines related to human resource management at least every three years.

On-going Responsibilities and Reporting

Responsible to the Diocesan Council and responsive to the bishop. Reporting to the Diocesan Council, and when requested, the bishop.

Membership

At least three clergy and three lay members as appointed by Diocesan Council, one of which will be the chair and one the vice-chair. The members may be members of the Diocesan Council.

Ex-officio: Bishop, Diocesan Personnel Officer, Secretary of the Synod, and a representative of the Archdeacons.

Members should have some expertise, interest or knowledge of human resource management.

Budget

Meeting expenses.

Limitation on Length of Service

Members appointed by the Diocesan Council – six years (eligible for reappointment after one year)
Chair – six years (eligible for reappointment after one year)
