Permanent residency for Twinamatsiko family. Word on Wednesdays. World Day of Prayer

Permanent residency for Twinamatsiko family

Permanent residency for Twinamatsiko family

Permanent residency means a great deal to the Twinamatsiko family in the Parish of Pennfield. It makes life more secure for all four of them. But it is the children who will benefit most.

It’s been two years since the parish rector, the Rev. Caleb Twinamatsiko, applied for the status that would allow them to remain in Canada. He, his wife, Hope, and their teenagers, Treasure and Trust, received the welcome news Feb. 18.

“We have been waiting, and it is a big relief,” said Caleb. “Now we are here, and we are happy here.”

That means no more visas, expiry dates and worries about where they will live and for how long. But easier access to education is the greatest impact.

Gospel Based Discipleship - Wednesday, March 3, 2021

Welcome to Word on Wednesdays in Lent.

Join Lisa Vaughn (Nova Scotia & PEI) and Shawn Branch (Fredericton) as they lead in a 'gospel-based discipleship' conversation.

Gospel-based discipleship is about learning how to put the Gospel at the centre of our lives. Each week, we will look at the gospel for the day and reflect on 3 questions.

    1. What word(s), idea(s), or phrase(s) stand out for you?
    2. What is Jesus (the Gospel) saying to you?
    3. What is Jesus (the Gospel) calling you to do?

This joint conversation is open to all - for those working, bring your lunch and join us.

World Day of Prayer

World Day of Prayer

The World Day of Prayer, traditionally held on the first Friday of March, will be broadcast on local television stations across Canada for the first time in 99 years. Each year, since 1922, a different host country has prepared the content of the World Day of Prayer service, highlighting its country’s culture and regional justice issues. The 2021 service has been written by the Vanuatu World Day of Prayer Committee and adapted for use in Canada by the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada. Viewers from all over the country will be able to virtually unite in prayer and action, by tuning into a broadcast or via YouTube.

The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement which brings Christians of many traditions together to observe a common day of prayer each year. Through preparation and participation in the worship service, we can learn how our sisters of other countries, languages and cultures understand the Biblical passages in their context. We can hear their concerns and needs and can join in solidarity with them as we pray with and for them. In this way, it is possible to enrich our Christian faith as it grows deeper and broader in an international, ecumenical expression.

The motto of the World Day of Prayer movement is Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action. Through our participation in the World Day of Prayer, we affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence on the world.
