The vicar returns. From the archbishop's desk. Camp Medley work days

Anglican Diocese of Fredericton
eNews for May 3, 2022
The vicar returns

The vicar returns

The Rev. Canon Walter Williams looks forward to a second summer as the vicar of Kings Landing

It’s no exaggeration that the Rev. Canon Walter Williams enjoys his role as the period-costumed vicar of Kings Landing. Now, at the beginning of his second year, he’s had time to appreciate what comes with the role, but also what doesn’t.

“First of all, no vestry meetings!” he said. “And I don’t have to take collection.”

Now he's set for the historical settlement near Fredericton to open on June 8.

The church in Riga would like to hear from you!

Great idea for youth groups, ACWs, Mothers' Union and Sunday schools

Greetings from St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Rīga, Latvia in northern Europe!

We have a huge favour to ask all of you:  Each year in Latvia at the end of May we have a country-wide event called "Baznīcu nākts" (Night of Churches) where almost every church hosts concerts, lectures, discussions, and so on, and visitors will visit multiple churches throughout the night.

Our church also usually displays different exhibitions of art done by our members, and one idea I had for this year would be a wall/display of postcards from many different churches throughout the Anglican world!

That way, we would be able to represent not only ourselves on this special occasion, but our entire denomination and your church as well!

It would be fantastic if your church could send us a postcard with a small message for St. Saviours or for Latvia in general — preferably one with your church pictured if possible. If you don't have one with the church building visible, any postcard from your parish will do!

If a post card isn't possible at all, you can also send a picture of your church along with a digital greeting to admin@anglicanriga.lv that we can print out in postcard size.

We will make sure to display them so both sides, including your messages, are visible. If you send us one, we will send you one back as well!

Our postal address is: St. Saviour's Anglican Church, Anglikāņu iela 2 Rīga, LV-1050 Latvia
Thank you so much in advance, and we look forward to sending you greetings!

Blessings from Joe Horgan, churchwarden at St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Rīga.

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement which the Archbishop of Canterbury invited people around the world to join. The wave of prayer runs for 11 days between the Christian festivals of Ascension and Pentecost. During this time, people are asked to pray in whatever way they want and with whoever they want for others to come to know Jesus Christ.

Check the global Thy Kingdom Come site for resources, including the 2022 Prayer Journal.

The Bishop's Office has ordered 2022 resource packs - contact Cheryl if you wish to have some
