All are welcome! Cost is $20/person (lunch and refreshments provided).

The Rev. Paul Ranson is the rector of the Parish of Douglas and Nashwaaksis (St John the Evangelist) in Fredericton; he is married to Kimberly and together they are raising 3 children.

Saint John Seafarers' Mission

Saint John Seafarers' Mission

During the Christmas season, the Saint John Seafarers’ Mission provides gifts to seafarers visiting our port. These gifts are packaged with the goal of giving items of necessity, with a little something extra, at a time when these men and women are feeling the loneliness of being away from their families.

In 2021, with generous support from groups and individuals, the Mission distributed 152 Christmas packages to seven ships. One of these packages was delivered to the Saint John Regional Hospital, where one crew member was recovering from illness.

All expressed appreciation for the gifts and for thinking of them at this season of the year.

Comic Relief!

A woman went into her kitchen to find a burglar loaded down with things he was stealing from her kitchen. Not having any kind of weapon to scare him off, she raised her hand and said "Acts 2:38," and proceeded to quote scripture.

The burglar froze in place and didn't move. The woman called 911, the police arrived and were amazed to find the burglar still frozen where he stood.

"What did you say to him that kept him from moving?" they asked the woman.
She told them that she had simply said Acts 2:38 and quoted scripture.

The police chuckled and escorted the burglar out to the patrol car. "Why did the woman's quoting scripture scare you so much?" they asked.

"Scripture?" said the burglar, "I thought she said she had an axe and two 38's!"
