Summer camps prepare for the season

Summer camps prepare for the season

After decades of service to Camp Brookwood, Mary Lee Phillips has retired and handed responsibility for the camp to the diocese in the form of John Galbraith, director of Camp Medley.

“Mary Lee has been chair of the board for probably 30 years, but she’s not able to continue,” said John. “She and her husband did a phenomenal job.”

Mary Lee and her husband, Dwight, will open and close the camp, located just outside Florenceville-Bristol, but it will be up John to hire and oversee staff and operations.

Hope Amidst Crisis

Hope Amidst Crisis

With Dr. Ryan Weston, Lead Animator, Public Witness for Social and Ecological Justice, ACC - Wednesday, March 22, 2023

Canada is experiencing a national housing crisis in cities, rural communities, and Indigenous territories, with increasing rates of homelessness, a lack of affordable housing, and insufficient supports for those most vulnerable to housing insecurity. It is easy to despair in the face of such challenges, but we can also respond with hope! This event will focus on nurturing hope, taking action, and working towards solutions that create tangible differences for our communities. Together we can face this crisis head on, and proceed faithfully to address it and live out the call to love all of our neighbours.

This is an in-person event at Christ Church Cathedral that will also be live-streamed.

Ryan Weston has been the Lead Animator, Public Witness for Social and Ecological Justice at the Anglican Church of Canada for 6 years.

St. Michael’s is back!

St. Michael’s is back!

Aug. 21-26 at Camp Medley

St. Michael’s is an annual conference in the Anglican tradition for youth aged 13–19. Together we pray, study and play. Over its 33 conferences since 1987, St Michael’s has formed a vibrant community within the Anglican Church in the Maritimes.

Our conference participants — called Michaelites! — don’t do things by half measures. When we worship, we worship God reverently in spirit and truth. When we study, we challenge ourselves to learn deeply. When we kick back for games and activities, we make sure that we have a blast.

Since 2022, St. Michael’s Youth Conference has been held at Camp Medley, a facility which the Bishop of Fredericton has generously allowed us to use.

Camp Medley, located near Gagetown N.B., has waterfront access to the St John River, facilities for outdoor activities, a supervised swimming pool, a large dining hall, comfortable cabins, and a chapel.
