Mejias visit St. Margaret’s

The Rev. Kara Thompson Mejia and the Rev. Nelson Mejia were special guests at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church in Fredericton on June 18. It was their 15th of 16 visits to churches in New Brunswick and Ontario during their three months at home.

The couple leads Anglican worship, in Spanish, in Roatán, Honduras. Kara is originally from New Brunswick and is the daughter of Bell and the Rev. Gordon Thompson.

The Rev. Nicholas Saulnier has been appointed as incumbent in the parishes of Marysville, Stanley and St. Mark, York, effective July 1.

Samuel Landry has been accepted as a postulant in the Diocese of Fredericton.

Events around the diocese

July 1, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.   Saturday book sale at Kingston Parish Hall; plus Canada Day Strawberry shortcake takeout. 

Friday, July 7  Farraline Place will hold a yard sale at the house, 776 Queen Street, Fredericton, next to the NB Legislature. All proceeds will go toward new sunroom blinds for the home. Some items of note:  antique upright piano, baked goods, kitchen items, books, movies and much more.

Saturday, July 8, 3 – 6 p.m.  St. Simon & St. Jude’s Anglican and Kings Kirk United churches will host their annual strawberry festival supper at the Belleisle Creek Hall, 1338 Route 870. It will be TAKE OUT ONLY.  Menu will include potato salad on lettuce, ham, homemade beans, roll, coleslaw, tomato, cucumber, with a dessert of strawberry shortcake with biscuit and whipped cream for a cost of $15. 

Thursday, July 13   St. Luke’s Annual Strawberry Festival, St. Luke's Parish Hall, 12 Quispamsis Road, Quispamsis. Pickup from 4:30- 6 p.m. Tickets: $18, available by calling Susan at 847-7609. Drive-thru take-out only. Call early. Tickets must be picked up and paid for before dinner.

Sunday, July 30, 2-4 p.m.   Indigenous healing tea and talk, by Kate Akagi at the Anglican Parish Hall, 75 King Street, St. Andrews. Everyone welcome!

The annual Summer Music Series at Christ Church Cathedral is back! All are welcome to attend these concerts, designed to fit perfectly within the lunch hour: Fridays from 12:10-12:50 p.m., 30 June - 25 August.

Concerts will feature a variety of soloists and instruments: piano, violin, guitar, organ, fiddle and viola. Free admission, donations encouraged. Proceeds will support the Cathedral Organ Renovation Fund.

RIDE FOR REFUGE 

RIDE FOR REFUGE 

Holy Trinity Church Hammond River is the start and end location for the 2023 Ride for Refuge (walk, bike or run) on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Come join the fun activities and help support a worthy cause either by signing up to participate or to support someone else!  Ride name is RIDE Hampton 2023.

RIDE FOR REFUGE is a family-friendly fundraising bike ride of 10-20 km or walk/run of 2.5 – 5 km event  in support of the Ripple of Us ministry offered through Threshold Ministries (formerly Church Army). Ripple of Us helps people after incarceration who may be seeking hope, safety, and freedom with small manageable actions that ripple beyond our view.

START & END are at Holy Trinity Church 2 Hammond River Rd, Quispamsis. The event will feature road signage for the walk/ride event and support along the way.
