Choir School draws 50 participants

With administrator the Rev. Paul Rideout on sabbatical, two choir members stepped in to ensure Diocesan Choir School went ahead this year.

Mary Louise Belyea and Robert Taylor shared organizational duties, and on the day in question, more than 50 adult choristers showed up to spend the day rehearsing, and in the evening, performing at Trinity Church, Saint John on July 8.

St. Helen's, Licford, a bishop's peculiar church from the former Parish of the Tobique, will be deconsecrated on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m.

An unusual request

Did you know the Rev. Les Petrie, and do you have any recordings of his singing? His family is hoping to find some record of his singing voice.

He served in the following parishes: Restigouche, Stanley, Simonds and Lakewood, Ketepec and Grand Bay, and the Tobique.

He was ordained in 1969 and 1970, retired in 1998 and died in 2007.

Could you be a host family?

The New Brunswick International Student Program (NBISP) will be welcoming 200 high school students in Southern New Brunswick from all over the world in just a few weeks.

Students in our program live with local host (homestays) for 8 weeks to 10 months depending on the length of their individual stay. We are still looking for homes for some of our students and need your help!

Hosts are the foundation of the program; without them, NBISP will not thrive. Not only can we be a blessing to these students by welcoming them into our homes, but they are also a blessing to our communities. Learning and living alongside people from around the globe gives us a better understanding of international issues, foreign affairs, and immigration issues.
