Martha’s Pantry is always full

A great-grandson’s need and a few “God bumps”— direction from the Lord — are the reasons there is a Martha’s Pantry at St. John the Evangelist Church in Fredericton. 

“I had a few God bumps,” said Heather Storey, 85, the founder of Martha’s Pantry.

Diocesan grants awarded

The Diocesan Synod is pleased to announce the following diocesan grants were awarded  in the September review:

Parish of Lancaster – AED Installation and training – Approved for DSF of $3,596.00
Parish of Portland – Energy Efficiency Project – Approved for DSF of $14,087
Parish of Westmorland – AED Installation – Approved for =DSF of $3,117
Parish of Moncton – Community Breakfast Program – Approved for DSF of $5,000 
 
The next grant review deadline for 2024 budget funds is Nov. 24.

Friday, Oct. 20, 4-6 p.m.  St. John the Evangelist Church on Fredericton’s north side will hold a “double-stuffed baked potato fundraiser" — this time with even more delicious chili! Your baked potato comes with your choice of dessert: Jewish apple cake or carrot cake. Price is $10; eat-in or take out. Please order ahead by calling the church office:  506-458-9411.

Saturday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Can I help? The Art Of Visiting People Who Are Lonely, Grieving Or Unwell.  Whether you are a family member or friend, you can benefit from this workshop. More than ever people need to be comforted with a visit. This interactive workshop, held at Holy Trinity in the Parish of Hammond River, will help you learn to listen more effectively, refresh skills you already have and make your visit more fulfilling. There is no fee to attend. Lunch is provided. Please join us for an uplifting day with special guest Rick Benson, grief recovery specialist. Pre-register by calling 506-647-8170.
