Parish events
Wednesday, Oct. 18, 5:30 p.m. The parishes of Andover and Denmark will hold their first Supper Church at St. Ansgar’s. Bring an appetite for supper, fellowship and the Holy Spirit. A basket for free-will offering will be placed at the door. The Rev. Harold Boomer will be in the kitchen using his Nanny Boomer's baked ham, potato scallop and gingerbread recipes (Kings County favorites) while everyone gathers after lunch to play cards and chat. All are welcome, all are family. Friday, Oct. 20, 4-6 p.m. St. John the Evangelist Church on Fredericton’s north side will hold a “Double-stuffed baked potato fundraiser" — this time with even more delicious chili! Your baked potato comes with your choice of dessert: Jewish apple cake or carrot cake. Price is $10. Eat-in or take out. Please order ahead by calling the church office: 506-458-9411. Saturday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Can I help? The Art Of Visiting People Who Are Lonely, Grieving Or Unwell. Whether you are a family member or friend, you can benefit from this workshop. More than ever people need to be comforted with a visit. This interactive workshop, held at Holy Trinity in the Parish of Hammond River, will help you learn to listen more effectively, refresh skills you already have and make your visit more fulfilling. There is no fee to attend. Lunch is provided. Please join us for an uplifting day with special guest Rick Benson, grief recovery specialist. Pre-register by calling 506-647-8170. Advent RetreatScripture - A Doorway to Advent Hope, Peace and Action Join friends from across the diocese and beyond for a 24-hour Advent breakaway. Our Advent Retreat, Scripture - A Doorway to Advent Hope, Peace, and Action, is open to anyone (Anglican or not) who is looking for a moment to pause and reflect on the true meaning of the season. Our retreat leader (teacher) is Fr. Bill Brennan. Bill was ordained for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint John, NB in 1985 and over the years has always been involved with parish ministry and is presently the Pastor at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish (Hanwell/ McAdam/Kingsclear area).
