ACW hosts annual meeting in Fredericton

ACW hosts annual meeting in Fredericton

Fifty ACW members and guests converged on St. Margaret’s Anglican Church in Fredericton on May 8 for the annual ACW meeting. The theme for the day was “Staying the Course.”

After registration, coffee and snacks, the day began with a service of Holy Eucharist, with Archbishop David Edwards preaching.

Bishop David illustrated the concept that things don’t always go according to plan by telling a story of his sailing a boat, only to have it capsize — not once but twice.

Alongside Hope responds to wildfires

Alongside Hope (formerly PWRDF) is actively supporting communities in Western Canada currently affected by wildfires, and is contributing to the response efforts according to the specific needs of the individual Dioceses and communities.

In Saskatchewan, we are supporting a response implemented by the Anglican Diocese of Saskatchewan to assist community members impacted by the wildfires and their immediate needs. This is being done with the creation of a small fund which can be accessed, as needed, to support those affected by the fires.

In Manitoba, we are supporting a response implemented by the Indigenous People’s Alliance of Manitoba-North (IPAM-N) to help purchase a pump and hose to fight fires and save lives in the community of Wabowden.

And in British Columbia, we established a response fund with the Diocese of Kootenay, so that they are able to respond to needs quickly this summer.

We continue to monitor the situation and are in communication with these and other communities and are grateful for your continued support and prayers as we work together to respond in these moments.

For those looking for meaningful ways to support communities impacted by this wildfire season, we encourage them to visit: https://alongsidehope.org/give-today/ and select "In Canada Emergency Response.”

2026 church calendar

If you haven’t already heard, the 2026 Canadian Church Calendar is now available—marking the 120th anniversary of this long-standing resource! For those joining General Synod later this month in London, copies will also be available at the Anglican Church of Canada eStore booth.

The Canadian Church Calendar is a deeply valued publication across Anglican households and sacristies from coast to coast to coast, even serving as a popular fundraising item in many parishes.

We’re also inviting photo submissions for the 2027 calendar and would love to see contributions from your diocese. Note that the deadline is earlier than usual this year: Nov. 1, 2025. Submission guidelines and details are available here.

Less than two weeks left to double your impact with support for Alongside Hope

Alongside Hope (formerly PWRDF) is over 80 per cent of the way to unlocking a $250,000 matching gift for the Resilience Fund, with another $44,000 needed by June 30 to meet the goal.

Recent American and European cuts to foreign aid have made life extremely difficult for untold numbers of people who depended on aid agencies. Your support will be doubled to help refugees in Tanzania, malnourished children in Burundi, and survivors of gender-based violence in Uganda.

Help Alongside Hope reach the finish line—give now or share this bulletin insert with your parish. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our neighbours around the world.

Taste and See...

Anglican Renewal Ministries is dedicated to bringing the life and power of the Holy Spirit to all Christians.  This year, 2025, ARM gives thanks to God for having served the Anglican Church of Canada for 40 years!

In addition to workshops on the person and gifts of the Holy Spirit, we also offer a quarterly magazine called “Taste and See…” with articles to uplift and encourage you in your walk with Christ.

We hope this magazine will be a source of encouragement to all.  Sample articles and a free copy of the magazine are available on our website.

Comic Relief!

After cleaning his patient's teeth, the dentist accompanied the five-year-old boy to the reception area, only to see him struggle with the oak door.

"It's heavy, isn't it?" asked the dentist.

"Yes," he said. "Is that so children can't escape?"
