KCSE continues its work with widows in rural Uganda
In late January, the annual general meeting of KCSE — Kigando Community Support for the Elderly — heard that the efforts to assist elderly widows in Uganda has stepped up, most notably with daily deliveries of milk to 17 widows and a plan to include fresh vegetables and even chicken rearing. Every Friday in Lent During Lent, the Parish of The Six Saints in the Moncton area will hold a service of Stations of the Cross at 6 p.m. every Friday. They will alternate between St. George and St. James churches. On Friday, Feb. 27, it will be at St Georges, and each week a layreader or deacon will reflect at one of the Stations. Saturday, March 14 Dessert & Mystery Auction Evening at Holy Trinity Anglican Church 2 Hammond River Rd, Quispamsis! Enjoy yummy desserts followed by a Mystery Auction with Mark Allaby & Pat Hanratty as auctioneers. Desserts served in the Church Hall at 6 p.m. with the auction at 7 p.m. Come join the fun! This gathering will offer an opportunity to explore a variety of personal prayer practices that can nurture and sustain your spiritual life and ministry. Whether you are discovering these practices for the first time or hoping to deepen rhythms you already use, the day will create space to learn, reflect, and pray together. Kurt Schmidt, Diocesan Missioner for Christian Formation, will guide participants through several approaches to prayer, offering both teaching and time to experience these practices firsthand. Renewal of Vows and Blessing of OilWith Holy Eucharist - Thursday, March 26, 2026 This service provides an opportunity for ordained and lay ministers to reaffirm their commitment to their appointed ministries, as well as have oil blessed for use in the year to follow. Traditionally held on Maundy Thursday, it is now scheduled for the week before so clergy can be in their parishes during Holy Week. All lay persons are also welcome to attend. A lunch will follow. Please RSVP to assist with numbers. Regarding the blessing of oilClergy are encouraged to bring oils for the bishop's blessing, placing filled stocks on the table provided before the consecration. Oil or Chrism is available from the Cathedral supply any time through the year, if and when requested. For those who may be looking for material for the Reception of Oils to use in your parish following the blessing, this option from the Church of England's Common Worship, adapted to the oils used, is suggested.
