All you need to know about Diocesan Synod

All you need to know about Diocesan Synod

The 141st Session of the Diocesan Synod of Fredericton will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton.  A synod session is the general business meeting of the Diocesan Synod corporation.

Why another session of synod so soon, you may ask. April's synod session was a "special" synod to discuss the future of our Cathedral.

Friday, Oct. 2, 7 p.m.   During this Season of Creation, our former dean, Keith Joyce will visit Christ Church Cathedral to lead us in special celebrations of Celtic Eucharist.
A Celtic Eucharist is a simple, contemplative Christian communion service combining elements of (the) traditional liturgy with insights and imagery from the creation-centered Celtic devotional lineage. Such services are often held in the evening and foster quiet reflection, and ours will do just that!
The service will be less than an hour long. And please feel especially invited if you are first-timers or curious at all about Celtic spirituality.
RSVPs are requested so that we know how many chairs to set out. Please contact Kurt Schmidt by email <k.schmidt@cccath.ca> or cell phone (506-259-3711).

Saturday, Oct. 3, 10 a.m.   Blessing of the Animals service at Christ Church (Parish Church), 245 Westmorland St., Fredericton. This will take place outside on the lawn, weather permitting. Camp Medley Pool Fundraiser!

Camp Medley Pool Fundraiser!

Camp Medley's A Place Where Everyone Belongs matching gift campaign toward the new accessible pool and facilities project is going well.

We're especially grateful to the Parish of Sussex for its generous five-year pledge of $50,000, demonstrating how parishes can help build Camp Medley's future for generations to come.

Apart from that generous gift, other donors have raised a lot of money in just a few weeks, for a grand total so far of $104,377.83!

Thanks to the generosity of the J.T. Clark Family Foundation, every eligible gift designated to the project between now and Dec. 31 helps unlock a $375,000 matching commitment.

Thank you to everyone who has already supported the campaign through your gifts and prayers. If your parish, family, or organization has not yet participated, we invite you to consider joining us in creating a place where everyone belongs.

Comic Relief!

A mom was driving her five-year-old son to McDonald's one day and they passed a car accident.

Whenever the mom saw something terrible like that, she would always say a prayer for those who might be hurt, so she pointed and said to her son, "We should pray."

From the back seat she heard his earnest request: "Please, God, don't let those cars block the entrance to McDonald's."
