Summer camp was well underway by mid-July when the NB Anglican visited Camp Medley.

There were plenty of new toys and activities at the camp this summer — pedal bikes, a cotton candy machine, carnival games — but with the searing heat, probably the most popular upgrade was the heat pumps in the dining hall.

The Rev. Deborah Cochran will retire from service in the Parish of Hampton effective Oct. 1. Over the years, Deborah has served at both Church Army/Threshold Ministries and as a deacon.

National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop Chris Harper will be in the diocese September 13-19, 2024 primarily as keynote speaker at the annual clergy conference.

• Saturday, Sept. 14, 1:00 pm - Worship and presentation gathering at All Saints Church, St Andrews - presentation to include Our Way of Life.
• Sunday, Sept. 15, 10:30 am - Worship at Christ Church Cathedral followed by reception – all are welcome to attend.
• Monday to Wednesday, Sept. 16-18 - Clergy Conference

About Archbishop Chris Harper:

Born in Saskatchewan and a member of the Onion Lake Cree Nation, Archbishop Harper is a graduate of Wycliffe College. His parish ministries have included on and off-reserve, and shared ministry with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. He has also been involved in numerous committees within the Anglican Church of Canada, including the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples, Council of General Synod, Provincial Synod and the Diocesan Executives for Saskatchewan and Algoma. Harper is the former diocesan bishop of Saskatoon. He was installed as National Indigenous Archbishop in May 2023.

Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.   Saint George’s Anglican Church, Bathurst presents an arts  & crafts fair. Among featured items are handknit and crocheted hats, scarves, mittens, and wool socks as well as quilts, afghans, cushions and wall hanging. As well, art, fabrics, yarns, crafting supplies, notions, books and patterns will be showcased with jams, jellies, preserves and a bake sale. Saturday, Sept. 28, 4 to 5:30 p.m.   St. Luke’s, 12 Quispamsis Road, Quispamsis will hold its annual roast beef dinner at the parish hall. In keeping with the TRC’s Call to Action, I am co-hosting, with the Imperial Theatre, what I believe is the first New Brunswick screening of the award-winning documentary, “We Are the Warriors,” which tracks the discussions of the Town of Wells, Maine in respect of extinguishing its high school’s use of an indigenous mascot.

 SYNOPISIS:  For nearly 70 years, students and alumni of Wells High School in Maine have called themselves the “Warriors.” Their yearbook is named for the Abenaki, the Indigenous people the town’s settlers first encountered in the 1600s. The school’s mascot, variations of a stoic Native American head in profile with braids and feathered headband, has drawn both support and criticism in the past. However, during the 2017 fall athletic season, an incident shocks the town and reignites the debate.

Anglican Renewal Ministries (ARM) is dedicated to bringing the life and power of the Holy Spirit to all Christians. ARM has been serving the Anglican Church of Canada for over 30 years. 

We recently held events in Airdrie, AB, and Miramichi, NB. If you would like to host an ARM event in your parish, please contact the ARM office.  

In addition to workshops on the person and gifts of the Holy Spirit, we also offer a quarterly magazine called “Taste and See…" with articles to uplift and encourage you in your walk with Christ.   We hope this magazine will be a source of encouragement to all.
