Visit of Archbishop Chris Harper
National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop Chris Harper will be in the diocese September 13-19, 2024 primarily as keynote speaker at the annual clergy conference. Archbishop Harper’s confirmed public schedule of events:
About Archbishop Chris Harper: Born in Saskatchewan and a member of the Onion Lake Cree Nation, Archbishop Harper is a graduate of Wycliffe College. His parish ministries have included on and off-reserve, and shared ministry with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. He has also been involved in numerous committees within the Anglican Church of Canada, including the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples, Council of General Synod, Provincial Synod and the Diocesan Executives for Saskatchewan and Algoma. Harper is the former diocesan bishop of Saskatoon. He was installed as National Indigenous Archbishop in May 2023. Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saint George’s Anglican Church, Bathurst presents an arts & crafts fair. Among featured items are handknit and crocheted hats, scarves, mittens, and wool socks as well as quilts, afghans, cushions and wall hanging. As well, art, fabrics, yarns, crafting supplies, notions, books and patterns will be showcased with jams, jellies, preserves and a bake sale. Saint George’s Church is located at 432 King Ave., Bathurst. Saturday, Sept. 28 Take-out chicken dinner at St. Augustine’s in Quispamsis. Menu: Chicken breast, potato and pasta salads, roll and desert for $17.
