This November, readers of Forward Day by Day will be treated to an exceptional Canadian perspective.

Ontario-based writer, Allison Lynn Flemming, is the only Canadian author to be featured in this year’s lineup of devotional writers. As half of the duo, Infinitely More, she is also the only 2026 writer serving in full-time music ministry.

“I’ve been a reader of Forward Day by Day for years,” shares Allison. “It’s an honour to be part of this meaningful ministry!”

A ministry of the Episcopal Church since 1935, Forward Day by Day (FDD) – published quarterly in English and Spanish – provides “daily inspirational meditations reflecting on a specific Bible passage,” according to its webpage www.forwardmovement.org

Today, FDD reaches more than half a million readers and listeners with daily prayer and Bible devotions.

Allison has written 30 devotions for November 2026. Writing for November meant she was able to craft devotions for such special days as All Saints Sunday, Remembrance Day, American Thanksgiving, and the first Sunday of Advent.

Prospective writers must go through an audition process to be considered for the daily devotions. FDD only commissions 12 writers annually, so even after being accepted, writers may have to wait a year or more before a slot opens up for them.

Each writer is responsible for creating a 220-word reflection for each day of their assigned month. Writers can choose any verse from the assigned lectionary of that day or they can write about the saint for the day.

Naturally, this provides a unique challenge, as Allison shares:

“Most devotional books will assign either a single verse or a topic for your writing. Having the entire lectionary at my disposal was exciting but could also be overwhelming. Before I could even start writing, I needed to dedicate a significant amount of time to reading, praying, and discerning. I also researched all the daily saints to see if I wanted to write about them. Some days, I found many verses that were inspiring, so I needed to lift additional prayers to narrow it down to just one. I also kept a chart to make sure my month’s worth of devotions reflected a variety of themes for our readers.”

Allison is a prolific writer of Bible devotions, articles, and inspirational memoir. In addition to other publications, she’s had 18 stories published with Chicken Soup for the Soul and over 40 devotions and stories published with Guideposts.

Allison was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where she attended St. Thomas’ Anglican Church. She and her husband, Gerald Flemming, currently live in St. Catharines, Ontario.

As a daughter-father writing duo, we (Allison and Hollis) are about to release our first picture book, The Fish in the Bright Red Swimsuit.

In addition to her writing ministry, Allison and Gerald form the award-winning music duo, Infinitely More.

Their extensive touring ministry – spanning more than 15 years - has brought them to churches all across Canada, offering concerts, worship services, preaching, workshops,  and musical residencies that draw together people from all denominations and generations.

They have ministered in churches of over 30 denominations, including Anglican parishes in half of Canada’s 30 national dioceses. Countless Anglican churches in every province have opened their doors to Allison and Gerald’s vibrant music.

Infinitely More has released nine studio albums and is currently working on their tenth project. Their previous recordings have been nominated for 16 national music awards, including two East Coast Music Award nominations for Gospel/Inspirational Album of the Year. Their album, The Beauty of the One, won Canadian Christian Music Awards for both Folk Album of the Year and Collaboration of the Year.

Churches and individuals can access Allison’s November devotions in print, online, or podcast via www.ForwardMovement.org. You can also sign up to have them delivered to your inbox each day.

“Writing the 30 devotions for Forward Day by Day was a labour of love. My hope is that they help people as they travel through their life’s journey,” Allison concluded.
