The Bishop of Fredericton wishes to appoint a new Dean of Fredericton.
The Dean of Fredericton is the senior priest of the Christ Church Cathedral (CCC). The Cathedral serves Fredericton, the surrounding region and other Anglican communities throughout New Brunswick. It is known for rich liturgical and musical traditions, active outreach ministries, and committed lay leadership.
Following a 2026 Synod commitment to strengthen its role as the Mother Church of the Diocese, the Cathedral is seeking a Dean who can provide inspiring spiritual leadership, nurture growth in faith, and help advance its ministry of worship, formation, and mission. The successful candidate will be a gifted preacher and liturgical leader who can work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and diocesan leadership.
Worship at the Cathedral includes BCP and BAS liturgies, choral worship supported by a vibrant music ministry, and regular worship opportunities. Active lay ministries support worship, pastoral care, fellowship, outreach, and administration.
A housing allowance is provided in lieu of a rectory. Stipend, benefits, vacation, and continuing education support follow diocesan guidelines.
Please include the following in an expression of interest:
Clergy from outside the Diocese of Fredericton should confirm that they have their bishop's permission to explore a possible appointment outside their own diocese. A confidential reference may also be requested from the candidate's diocesan bishop.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a valid criminal record and vulnerable sector check and may be required to authorize a credit check.
