The Bishop of Fredericton seeks to appoint a priest and rector to an evolving shared ministry between the Parish of Fredericton Junction and the Parish of New Maryland in the Anglican Diocese of Fredericton.

The Parish of New Maryland is located south of the City of Fredericton in and beyond the suburban Village of New Maryland, including the communities of Charters Settlement, Nasonworth, Rusagonis and Waasis, an area with a population of about 8,000. The Parish of Fredericton Junction, meets the New Maryland service area at its southern border and extends further south down NB-101 through Tracy, Fredericton Junction, Hoyt and a number of other rural communities, with a population of roughly 4,000.

New Maryland has one church building, Holy Trinity, built in 1987 and located just outside the village limits. There is also a deconsecrated heritage church building which is leased to the Village. Fredericton Junction operates mainly out of St. Mark’s in Tracy, but also includes St. Andrew’s in Fredericton Junction and St. Luke’s in Hoyt, both of which are over 100 years old. Neither parish maintains a rectory.

Both parishes use a combination of the Book of Common Prayer and the Book of Alternative Services, feature music as a regular part of the service and make extensive use of lay readers.  Both showed modest but steady membership prior to March 2020 but have experienced decline through the pandemic. They have already been cooperating in the sharing of incumbent, interim and supply clergy over the past several years.

The ideal candidate will lead an inviting service of worship and assist our communities in
evolving in their Christian mission. He or she is a sincere and passionate leader who is capable
of working with the congregation to engage the broader community in many ways, including
personal outreach and social media.

Please include the following in an expression of interest.
