The Bishop of Fredericton seeks to appoint a priest and incumbent to the Anglican Parish of Douglas and Nashwaaksis in the Diocese of Fredericton.
This single-point parish is located in the north-west area of the provincial capital City of Fredericton and includes parts west of the city along the Saint John River. The church is St. John the Evangelist, a single accessible building built in 2010 to replace the original church and separate hall.
There are two worship services each Sunday: a spoken Eucharist using the BCP at 8:30 am and the main Eucharist service, primarily using the BAS, at 10:30 am. There is also a Wednesday morning BAS Eucharist. The average attendance on Sundays is over 80. There are occasional services with the neighbouring Baptist and United churches.
The church defines themselves as an informal, welcoming and family oriented congregation, with a desire to grow in the love of Christ and serve their community as a whole. They envision themselves as a thriving church, not just in numbers, but also in their impact on the community. The building is a busy place used by both congregational and outside groups. There is good lay leadership, including a number of licensed layreaders.
Please include the following in an expression of interest.
Clergy from outside the diocese should confirm that they have their bishop’s permission to explore a possible appointment outside of their own diocese. A confidential reference may also be requested from your diocesan bishop and in addition to other references.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a valid criminal record and vulnerable sector check and may be required to authorize a credit check.
