I am writing to you from the floor of General Synod in Calgary. Unlike New Brunswick, we are enjoying hot weather here, so I am glad to be in an air-conditioned space.
As many of you will know Archbishop Claude Miller sadly died yesterday, having had a period of illness over the last few weeks. Please keep Sharon, Jennifer, Melanie, and their families in your prayers during these difficult days.
One of the things I remember Claude for is his dedication to camping ministry in our diocese, particularly Camp Medley. Many of us will remember that he spearheaded the campaign for the renewal of the buildings on the site and the way in which it looks today has a great deal to do with him.
The publicity for the fundraising campaign contained photographs of past campers and one of them was a very youthful Claude Miller. I believe it was taken at camp in the 1950s and I know that speaking with Claude he felt that his going to camp was important in his journey as a Christian. His driving force was that children should have the same opportunities as he had.
I was able to visit Claude twice whilst he was in hospital, but the last time we have an in-depth conversation was in our Cathedral about three weeks ago. One of the things he mentioned was that he was excited that the camping season was coming and how important it is for children to go to camp.
Claude was a very important figure in the history of our diocese and was helpful to me in my time as Bishop. This was very true in the early days when I first was elected. There have been many times over the last 10 years when I have spoken to him about matters and I have valued his counsel during the last 10 years.
Once again please remember the Miller extended family in your prayers. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Our thoughts are with you as you face this loss in your life. May you have memories of his love to you to sustain you in the days ahead. Fr. Ron and Jean
Very sorry to learn of Claude’s death. Deepest condolences to Sharon, Melanie, and Jennifer. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
My heart goes out to Sharon, Jennifer, Melanie and your extended family as you come to grips with this death. Claude was a friend and pastor to so many and his loss will be deeply felt. I had the privilege of working with Claude in both parish and diocesan ministries. His wisdom, support and leadership was essential in the building of the Church of the Resurrection and in the amalgamation of the churches of the Nerepis and St. John. Claude was a faithful friend and encourager and I will miss him.
Dear Miller Family: It is with great sadness that I learn of your beloved Claude's passing. I met Claude through our mutual membership with the Appraisal Institute of Canada, as Claude was an accredited real estate appraiser and partner with de Stecher, Miller & Law for many years. I treasure the occasions we have had to chat over the years. Please know family that you are in my heart at this time.
Sincerely,
Joel LaPointe
We are grieving the loss of this wonderful man. He just participated in my husband's memorial service, and read beautifully. We were so grateful that he honoured Bill in this way. Our prayers are with Sharon and the entire family during this difficult and sad time. Claude will always be in our hearts. Forever grateful for his service and his friendship, Carolyn Turney and family
We were so saddened to learn of Claude's passing. He along with Sharon and families have been in our prayers.
We have lost a good Shepherd. We were blessed to have Claude as our priest at St. George's in Bathurst for seven years and his warmth and compassion have touched many people all during his ministry. He will be missed.
I was told of Claudes passing from an announcement from the Appraisal Institute of Canada. I started my career when he left to become a priest. My colleages at the time always spoke of Claude with admiration. I have followed Claude's journey from members of Mission Church, again with admiration and respect. I will be thinking of Claude today and follow with prayers.
My heart goes out to Sharon and her Family at this tine of great loss. Bishop Miller was a wonderful man and so well liked and loved and I will always remember how he would go out of his way to make you feel at home. I will always miss his warm smile and genuine personality and I extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to All of you and will hold you in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
My deepest condolences. I am an elderly parishioner from Fredericton Junction and always enjoyed his visits to the church and to my home. He will be missed.
