It’s noon on the second last day of St. Michael’s Youth Conference. John Edwards, 9 — almost 10 — steps up to give the much-anticipated report on cabin inspections.

John and two others are “house kids,” children of staff whose job each day is to check on cabin cleanliness and report the dirt to everyone — who is neat and who is not.

“The boys’ cabin is probably the cleanest it’s ever been,” said John. “Their clothes were picked up, but their shoes…

“The girls picked up their shoes, but they didn’t sweep.”

The Rev. Canon Fran Bedell’s term as regional dean of the Archdeaconry of Woodstock has been extended for a further one-year term effective until Aug. 31, 2027.

The Ven. Leo Martin’s term as archdeacon of Saint John has been extended for a further one-year term to Aug. 31, 2027.

God willing, Archbishop David intends to ordain deacons Rick Cunningham, Dr. J. F., Rob Pitman and Virginia (Ginny) Wilmhoff to the priesthood and Ellen Kelly, Samuel Landry and Tyler Joseph McKenna to the (transitional) diaconate.

Camp Brookwood is excited to introduce our first Fall Youth Retreat!

Youth aged 9-16 from anywhere are invited. There will be lots of great camp activities, worship, and a campfire glow party. It is hoped this will become an annual event.

Registration will be at 5:30pm on Friday, the 25th, with pick up on Saturday at 4:30pmp. The fee is $60.00.

The Godly Play Maritimer Trainers are pleased to offer three consecutive days of training rather than spreading it over two weekends!  People have requested an opportunity to be able to complete the training this way.  

Register now for the Friday, Oct. 23 (2 p.m.) to Sunday, Oct. 25 (4 p.m.) training in Prince Edward Island at Southwest River United Church (12079 PE-6 Kensington).

Core training cost is $350 which includes two suppers, two lunches and nutritional breaks. Overnight accommodations are the responsibility of the participant.

The investment into this intensive training supports participants to leave being able to not only offer Godly Play stories, but more importantly, understand deeper the spirituality of the child as well as the methods of Godly Play.  

Once story materials are obtained, everything the storyteller needs to prepare is provided in the scripts, unlike other Christian formation programs.  The storyteller carries the story in their heart and as the sacred stories, parables and liturgical stories are told, connections are made through consistent language and the spiral curriculum nature.
