As we are all aware, the upcoming General Synod meeting early this July is scheduled to deal with the second and final reading of the proposed change to the Marriage Canon to include same-sex marriage. Many of us feel that this is shaping up to be a watershed moment in the life of the Anglican Church, whichever way the vote goes.

A number of us clergy feel the need to gather in prayer for this Synod and its effects upon the life of our Church.

We are inviting all Anglicans in our Diocese to join us in prayer simply for God’s will to be done through General Synod.

We will be meeting on the first three Mondays in June (3,10,17) at 12:00 -1:00pm. Bag lunch, coffee supplied.

LOCATIONS:

  • Fredericton: St. Margaret’s Church
  • Saint John: the Chapel of St. Mary/St. Bartholomew’s Church
  • Moncton: Chapel of St. George’s Church
  • Miramichi:  St. Mary's (Chatham)

If you are too far away to be able to come, please consider convening a similar series of meetings in your area.

We also would encourage those responsible for Parish Intercessions to make a special effort to include the General Synod in the month of June.
