Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.
Matthew 6:6-7 (The Message)

Centering Prayer

Daily Prayer / Offices

(See also Liturgical Prayer)

Part of the Ignatius exercises, a daily examination of one’s deepest feelings and desires.

Christian fasting is voluntarily going without food in order to focus on prayer and fellowship with God; it symbolizes taking our eyes off the things of this world and surrendering all our needs to God.

Ignatian Method

Named after Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), this method of prayer involves the reading of scripture seeking to enter into the story in order to learn more about and participate more fully in the mind, the heart, and the work of Christ.

Intercessory Prayer

Labyrinth / Walking Prayer

Lectio Divina (divine reading)

Also known as praying the scriptures, this method involves reading scripture devotionally rather than as a process of study. The object is not to master the text but to let the text master oneself.

Listening Prayer

“Speak Lord, for your servant is listening”

Liturgical Prayer

The saying of written prayers, often assigned to specific days or seasons of the Christian year. (See also Daily Prayer/Offices above)
